Principal Entertainment & David Roy Williams present the return of legendary riff lords Helmet on their 2017 Australian tour, playing the classic Betty album from start to finish, along with fan favourites and selections from their brand new album Dead To The World.

TICKETS ON SALE WEDNESDAY 7/12/16 @ 9AM:
thebrightsidebrisbane.oztix.com.au/Default.aspx?Event=68922

Across 27 years and eight studio albums, Page Hamilton and his band Helmet have set the standard for uncompromising and sonically brutal guitar driven rock. Born in New York City in 1989, Helmet took the hard rock blueprint of forbearers like Zeppelin, AC/DC and Wire and set it aflame, bringing raw power, volume and an almost mathematical sense of swing to the well-worn form, igniting an all-consuming firestorm that continues to burn incandescent to this day. Without the sonic path clearing that Helmet took upon themselves as a raison d'etre, the heavy music universe would be a far less exciting place.

All of this is plainly clear when you listen to Helmet’s brand new album Dead To The World. Produced by Page himself and mixed by award winning record producer, engineer and mixer Jay Baumgardner, Dead To The World proves the passing of time has done nothing to dull the senses, and indeed the rage of Hamilton and his carefully selected crack band of heavy-hitters. The razor sharp intensity, inventive art-rock riffology and burning dissatisfaction with society bristle across the 11 tracks and hark back to the halcyon days of albums like Betty, Meantime and Aftertaste which rewrote the rulebook for guitar bands in the 90’s.

It is the aforementioned Betty album that will form a major part of the band’s upcoming Australian visit with Helmet repaying the long-standing devotion shown by the faithful down under with a special start to finish performance of the 1994 classic. Tracks like “Wilma’s Rainbow”, "Milquetoast” and "Biscuits For Smut" will be brought to life on stages across the country in recognition of one of the most exciting hard rock records of the 90’s. Include a selection of all-time, back catalogue favourites such as “Unsung” and “In The Meantime” along with tracks from Helmet’s latest salvo Dead To The World and it’s sure that Australian hard rock fans will have plenty of reason for celebration in the New Year!

Helmet’s brand new album Dead To The World is out now.

Brisbane, QLD  4006 Map

In 2013, someone had an idea to create a space for a queer friendly, inclusive party and then, Cheated Hearts was born. We started out at one of the smallest venues in Brisbane and within weeks, word got around that this was the place to be. From starting off at AllOneWord (now Capulet), to filling popular venues like the Brightside, Cheated Hearts has been one of the biggest queer friendly parties Brisbane has seen in the last few years. Now, one year after ending, Cheated Hearts is coming back for a reunion and it's going to be BIG.

Cheated Hearts has won event of the year from the Queens Ball Awards, resident DJ's have played all around the country at various parties including Splendour in the Grass, countless articles have been written about us and thousands of people have swarmed the dance floors to celebrate and party with us until the sun came up. Let's do it all over again.

April is the first single from upcoming album Let Me Leave, released this January via UNFD.

The Perth band will be touring the album with special guests Hindsight and The Comfort, and will support Northlane on the Gold Coast leg of their Intuition tour.

Saviour frontman Bryant Best told the story of April in a statement: “April is track 1 of our latest album Let Me Leave. Collectively the track is one of our favourites from Let Me Leave following a journey like structure and a handful of textures that captured us while in the writing process.

“April has a few themes running through it and how that came to be was quite different from how we normally go about our business. The lyrics to the soundscape were actually picked apart from different lyric compositions that had been made for other tracks and pieced together to form April. The way the words worked with each other was very cool. The track ended up forming its own story.

“The music video was filmed it multiple locations around Perth by our friend James Killian. We thought it would be cool filming a video in built up busy locations. Besides the constant pedestrians walking by and the spectators/hecklers in passing vehicles, the process was kinda fun! The end product was exactly what we were aiming for with this idea. We hope you enjoy it!”

ALEX LAHEY - WES ANDERSON TOUR
Friday 26th May - The Brightside Brisbane
**TICKETS ON SALE NOW**
thebrightsidebrisbane.oztix.com.au/Default.aspx?Event=71186

Alex Lahey hocked her beloved 1999 blue Corolla to pay for the recording of her debut EP. First single out of the boot was last year’s Air Mail, introducing the airwaves to the Melbourne-based singer-songwriter’s knack for melodic, guitar-driven hooks.

Most recently Lahey has set the music industry abuzz with the insanely catchy You Don’t Think You Like People Like Me. From the attention-grabbing opening bars (those drums sound like an angry landlord thumping your front door on a Sunday morning), it flips the classic break-up line “it’s not you, it’s me” on its head. Upon release in March, People… was immediately added to rotation on triple j, triple j unearthed, Syn FM and FBi FM, and started popping up on music blogs everywhere. It was then Pitchfork gave it Best New Track and got the rest of the world talkine

A founding member of avant poppers Animaux, multi-instrumentalist Lahey has now gone solo and pared down her sound, embracing a simple, home-spun story-telling style that’s often underlined by her second love, the fuzz pedal.

Along with her new three-piece band and producer Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy, Ali Barter), Lahey is set to release her debut EP later in 2016 - bound to be the year’s greatest Corolla-funded release.

Mostly known as the moody instrumental children of Melbourne's world famous soul scene, The Cactus Channel have been moving in a new stylistic direction with this collaboration.

The EP treads a thin line between alt-soul and the best of indie pop, swimming in compelling atmospherics and deftly weaving Cromack's rich, drawling vocal and disarming, meditative

Sitting at over 20 million streams, having played the likes of Glastonbury and Splendour in the Grass, a national support slot with RUFUS under their belt and a run of their own sold shows, Byron Bay electronic four-piece Tora today announce their debut album Take A Rest. Set for release 9 June, the outfit today drop the second cut from the album – the lush, layered sounds of 'Another Case', which they will perform live on their national album tour this June before heading to Europe and the UK.

Inspired while touring Australia, Europe and North America, Tora wrote Take A Rest over a two year period in various locations around the globe before composing, recording, producing and mixing the album in their home studios in Byron Bay. Tora took a novel approach to recording Take A Rest by incorporating organic sounds heard in guitarist Jai Piccone’s garden, including the buzzing of flies, bamboo creaking in the wind and the scraping of cactuses with rakes. Take A Rest was mastered by Grammy nominated engineer Andrei Eremin (Chet Faker, WAFIA, Hiatus Kaiyote).

The second single from the album, ‘Another Case’, is a track which traverses from pocket grooves and bass-driven beats to soaring vocals. It is about admiring the natural beauty of a person and letting them know that you love them for who they are, without comparing them to the unrealistic, synthesized 'perfection' of what is seen online. It follows on from the intricate first single ‘Amsterdam’.

Tora have an extensive touring CV, with spots on the line up at The Great Escape (UK), Best Kept Secret (NL), and Germany’s premier festivals Fusion Festival, and Reeperbahn as well as over 70 other festivals and headline shows across Europe, the US, Mexico and Canada.

The band have amassed a combined 20 million online streams from previous singles ‘Poly Amor’ and ‘Twice’, and EP’s Eat the Sun and the self-titled Tora. Tora continue to solidify their position as one of the most lauded live acts in the country, don’t miss them this June & July with special guests to be announced.

____________________________________________
Go grab a functioning liver while you can, as DEEZ NUTS are set to binge and purge their way around Australia this August!
In support of their brand new album Binge & Purgatory (see what we did there) – available worldwide via Century Media – DEEZ NUTS will be taking in dates across Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra, Newcastle, Sydney and Brisbane, where they’ll be backed by a who’s who of Australia’s heaviest up and comers , including VOID OF VISION, DREGG and BEERWOLF.

Written in and inspired by the cultural mecca that is New York City, Binge & Purgatory is the band’s most accomplished and hard-hitting work to date, one that boasts guest appearances from some of the biggest names in modern hardcore. Terror’s Scott Vogel lends his pipes to “Antidote,” while “Lesson’s Learned” features the one and only Jamey Jasta of Hatebreed.

Binge & Purgatory is more than a collection of high-profile names though, with DEEZ NUTS founder JJ Peters adamant that is the band’s most “concise and deliberate” work to date. Produced by the members themselves – in a collaborative manner with their long-time friend, Andrew Neufeld, of Comeback Kid – and engineered by Shane Frisbee (The Ghost Inside, Bury Your Dead), Binge & Purgatory is a must have for fans and newcomers alike.
Joining DEEZ NUTS will be Melbourne young guns, VOID OF VISION, who are currently riding their own wave of success, both at home and abroad. Their UNFD debut, Children Of Chrome, immediately connected with the heavy music community, which enabled VOV to take off on their first overseas jaunt (supporting Chelsea Grin throughout Europe), while a recent sold-out trek with US outfit I Prevail has further added to their already-stellar reputation.
DREGG’S unique brand of hip hop and thrash metal may not make sense on paper, but it’s the live arena where these Melbournians truly shine. Tracks like “Sorry Daddy” and “Weirdo” have struck a chord with show-goers across the country and while it’s likely that their over the top stage show may confuse at first, you’re guaranteed to be mesmerised by the end of their chaotic set.
Bringing up the rear will be new old guys, BEERWOLF, who channel the energy, riffs and alcohol consumption of your favourite 90s punk acts. Breaking hips and hitting the pit is their business and business is good.
