WORLDS APART AUSTRALIAN TOUR

WORLDS APART AUSTRALIAN TOUR

Friday September 22nd

Hot on the heels of smashing venues around Australia with The Amity Affliction, Perth metal outfit Make Them Suffer have announced the Aussie leg of their Worlds Apart world tour. The band will be supporting their brand new album, due to hit stores on July 28 through Roadrunner Records. Make Them Suffer have had the pedal to the metal since the release of their last album, Old Souls, in 2015. The band has toured relentlessly both at home and abroad with artists including Parkway Drive, Architects, In Hearts Wake, August Burns Red and Whitechapel, everywhere from Indonesia to Poland and in between. They found the time to get back in the studio to create Ether, a slab of churning, ethereal noise that’s about to crack 3 million streams as well as landing the band strong radio support, all the while pushing and pulling the limits of their writing behind the scenes to make something new. To round out the bill, Make Them Suffer are bringing along American heavy hitters Wage War, whose new record Deadweight will arrive August 4 via Fearless Records after spending the last 2 years touring with Every Time I Die, A Day To Remember and I Prevail, and Melbourne maniacs Alpha Wolf, who are dropping Mono July 14 through Greyscale Records....

To round out the bill, Make Them Suffer are bringing along American heavy hitters Wage War, whose new record Deadweight will arrive August 4 via Fearless Records after spending the last 2 years touring with Every Time I Die, A Day To Remember and I Prevail, and Melbourne maniacs Alpha Wolf, who are dropping Mono July 14 through Greyscale Records.

“Worlds Apart represents a new era for the band,” explains frontman Sean Harmanis. “It's the risks in songwriting and production taken in the past that lead us to this point. The album is a reminder to ourselves that change and growth are good things, as both have been integral to the success of this band and its identity. It's tough to say so early, but I think Worlds Apart is an album that will be in your stereo for quite some time. It's been such a crazy ride to think back to practicing our songs on mums kitchen floor. Members have come and gone, sacrifices have been made and we've quite seriously thought about throwing in the towel so many times. Our debut album Neverbloom gave us an extremely loyal following that saw us through an immense three-year gap between albums. Old Souls saw the beginning of this band and it's music starting to try new things, it also took the band out of Australia. I think with Worlds Apart we are now demonstrating our collective vision and what we’re capable of.”

Shady Bliss Hustlers Tour at The Brightside

Shady Bliss "Hustlers" Tour at The Brightside

Saturday September 30th - Sunday October 1st

The Brightside
27 Warner Street
Brisbane, QLD  4006 Map

Having established a solid reputation in Queensland through their "eclectic live shows, catchy lyrics and accompanied psychedelic tunes" this Brisbane's newly six-piece act Shady Bliss are ready to debut their new material next month, performing multiple dates along Australia's east coast.

Frontman Morgan Brown says "We're going for an almost theatrical/rock opera direction with our debut album. It's a concept album continuing the same weird story from our EP. It’s set to be a much bigger sound with the addition of two new members." Andy Thompson (The Medics, Surfin Bird) joins the band on guitar, along with Ellen Hockings on backing vocals/percussion.

The refreshed and upgraded group are in the midst of production on the ambitious debut album - with new single “Hustlers” coming soon. Reminiscent of early Pink Floyd sounds and with the song writing comparison of ELO, Shady’s new music is worth the wait.

Supported by Nice Biscuit and Fight Ibis!

Sad Grrrls Festival, Australia’s Largest music festival dedicated to promoting gender diversity in the music industry, is back for its third year running. Presented by DIY record label and booking agency Sad Grrrls Club, the festival, which last year sold out Melbourne’s Reverence Hotel and packed out Sydney’s Factory Theatre, has added a Brisbane leg to the event!

Perhaps the most significant change is the announcement of acts headlining all three dates of the festival. Headed up by Major Leagues and Nakatomi, organisers have already announced that Canberra’s Moaning Lisa, Melbourne’s Huntly, Newcastle’s Rachel Maria Cox (also the person behind Sad Grrrls Club) and labelmates Antonia & The Lazy Susans will be playing alongside stacked local line ups in each city.

Last year, Beat Magazine called it “the greatest event I’ve ever attended” and event organiser/label manager/performer Rachel Maria Cox says ‘This year there’s been a bit of a wait on the line up announcement, but I’m confident it has paid off. I’m incredibly stoked with the changes we’ve made and the line up we’ve put together and I hope everyone else will be too.”

Sad Grrrls Club Safer Spaces Invitation:
ALL SAD GRRRLS CLUB EVENTS ARE SAFER SPACES

Acknowledgement of Country
We acknowledge that this event takes place on occupied Aboriginal land of the Turrbal People of the Meanjin Nation, and we acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded. We pay our respects to the Indigenous Elders past, present and future.

What is a Safer Space?
According to the Coalition for Safer Spaces, “a safer space is a supportive, non-threatening environment that encourages open-mindedness, respect, a willingness to learn from others, as well as physical and mental safety. It is a space that is critical of the power structures that affect our everyday lives, and where power dynamics, backgrounds, and the effects of our behavior on others are prioritized. It’s a space that strives to respect and understand survivors’ specific needs. Everyone who enters a safer space has a responsibility to uphold the values of the space.”

A Safer Spaces Invitation is not perfect from the beginning and is an ever-evolving document that highlights issues as they come to the surface therefore requires constant revision. The term “safer” is used because it is understood that every individual’s perception of safety is different and no space can be entirely safe for every single individual. However, a safer spaces invitation operates on trust and we hope that we will all be aware of our own actions to ensure the safety of others and will be held accountable when we jeopardise the wellbeing of ourselves and others.

What does this mean?
As individuals, we are all responsible for our own actions and their consequences. There is zero tolerance for abusive, violent and hateful behaviour. Please be mindful of your own words and actions.

Sad Grrrls Club events strive to be free of:
-Homophobia, Transphobia, Racism, Sexism, Ableism, Discrimination & Hate Speech
-Bullying & put downs
-Illegal/inappropriate behaviour
-The usage of illicit substances on our premises and excessive intoxication on our premises
-Kicking or throwing of objects
-Abusive/threatening behaviour including verbal & physical violence

We Ask That You:
-Assess the way in which you dominate spaces; ask yourself “does my behaviour make people around me feel uncomfortable or threatened?”
-Don’t touch people without asking for their consent first
-Ask about peoples’ preferred pronouns. Sad Grrrls Fest is a gender diverse initiative therefore the way we address people can really affect them – use “they”and “their” as pronouns if you’re unsure. Don’t assume that a person adheres to the he/she binary.

What happens when someone violates the Safer Spaces Invitation?
On first instance, a staff member will issue that person with a reminder. If their behaviour continues, there will be a mediation meeting held to discuss their behaviour and how they may be helped with changing those behaviours. This meeting may be held with the organisers and venues. However, if a breach is ongoing or severe, the organisers and venue can issue people with a ban. We would like to resolve conflicts internally before having to call upon any law enforcement. Law enforcement should always be a last resort.

If you feel unsafe:
Sad Grrrls Fest Safer Spaces officers will be indicated by lanyards and wristbands. Please come and see one of these people if you require help at any point. If you would prefer to remain anonymous you can text a phone number that will be provided closer to the event date.

2017 marks ten long years since the snowdroppers first got in a room together to see if we could learn a handful of covers to play at a burlesque variety show... London, Pauly K, Cougar Jones and Johnny Wishbone - with no idea that it would dominate our lives for the next decade.

We've seen a lot of things come and go over the years- three albums and an EP, countless tours, festivals and support slots around Australia, several overseas trips, broken bones, more long drives and airport lines than you can shake a large Big Mac meal at, and have somehow managed to come out the other side sane and still kicking.

It's this kind of milestone that tends to make a band look back with pride on all their accomplishments, thankful of all they've been able to experience and look towards the next ten years with renewed purpose and vigour!

...Not us though, we're sick of it and are going to OFFICIALLY CALL IT QUITS after one last run of shows. This is it folks, we're hanging up the suspenders, burning the banjo and putting London back in the cabinet!

To celebrate our tenth anniversary and say farewell - we'll be playing Too Late to Pray in full and a selection of our other favourites. We’ll even be releasing a very limited number of ‘Too Late to Pray’ 12 inch vinyl.

We would love to see you all one last time - don't miss it!

The Brightside
27 Warner Street
Brisbane, QLD  4006 Map

Lime Cordiale will once again cram their tour bus with musicians and throw a series of parties across Australia in celebration of the release of their debut album, Permanent Vacation.

No matter what brothers Oli and Louis Leimbach are singing about, be it sticky relationships or breaking the norm, they are sure to be having a laugh at society. Lime Cordiale are recognised as one of the slow-burn, rising talents of the Australian music scene and on Permanent Vacation they have joined with producer, Dave Hammer (Thundamentals, Nicole Millar, Washington) to create 13 tracks which take you on a journey from the everyday to the extra-ordinary.

Whether they’re playing at house parties or to festival crowds, Lime Cordiale always deliver an exciting and unpredictable set. From the moment the brass section fires up, Lime’s soaring vocals and charismatic on-stage energy sends the crowd into a frenzy, as they rush the stage and shower each other in beer. “It was good touring with a band that could keep up with us for once; on and off stage” – Jimmy Young – Bootleg Rascal.

Catch Lime Cordiale on their "Permanent Vacation" tour, at the The Brightside on Friday 17th Nov (18+) and Saturday 18th Nov (U18). Their debut album “Permanent Vacation” is available for Pre-Order (Vinyl/CD) with exclusive prints from Louis Lime. You can also pre-save it for when the album drops on October 13 👌🏻

FAT NICK w/ Junor & Carmouflage Rose

Friday December 1st - Saturday December 2nd

The Brightside
27 Warner Street
Brisbane, QLD  4006 Map

Friday 1 December – The Brightside, Brisbane

In recent years, hip hop the world over has seen a renaissance, artists from across the globe have been leading the charge in transcending the genre from it’s humble roots in the Bronx, Brooklyn.

An artist leading the charge of high energy, codeine inspired story telling is Chicago based Fat Nick. The 22 year old Peruvian/Greek rapper made a name for himself early on via social media and Soundcloud.

After releasing a slew of singles, Nick dropped his first tape 'Fat Camp' in 2015, followed by his sophomore LP 'When the Lean Runs Out' in 2016, and most recently ‘Brand New’ in 2017 further adding to over 40 million streams on Soundcloud alone and growing the ‘Buffet Boy’s name, the collective begun with childhood friend and rapper Pouya.

Today, Destroy All Lines and Chugg Entertainment announce Fat Nick’s debut Australian/NZ tour. Currently working on his debut album and preparing for his first European tour, Fat Nick will be hitting our east coast for 3 exclusive shows in Brisbane Sydney and Melbourne.

Joining him across all three shows will be Australian up and comer Junor. Following his time recently DJing with national hip hop artist Ivan Ooze for Peking Duk’s ‘Clowntown Tour’, the mastermind behind SYN FM’s AUD’$ show, Juñor will showcase his high energy show including his latest single ‘Top Flight’ which features L.A’s Mann.

If that wasn’t enough, recent Bedlam Records signee and Brisbane based Zimbabwean import, Carmouflage Rose will be opening the festivities nationally. Having just released his new single ‘Late Nights’ – which was just added yesterday to Triple J rotation…the new comer has been earmarked as one of the top acts to watch in 2017.

The tour promises to showcase some of the leading global sounds in hip hop…don’t miss out.

Methyl Ethel - Live in the Carpark

Methyl Ethel - Live in the Carpark

Saturday December 2nd

Methyl Ethel, the brainchild of musical polymath Jake Webb, have announced an Australian tour kicking off this November in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide. Full tour details and ticket links below.

Methyl Ethel have been making waves, selling out every headline show in the country since 2016 and topping the album and singles charts (for ‘Ubu’ and ‘Drink Wine’). The third most played artist on triple j this year (ranking higher than Lorde and Kendrick Lamar), Methyl Ethel’s second album Everything Is Forgotten out via Dot Dash / Remote Control is winning over fans in the northern hemisphere, with their recent London show at Shacklewell Arms selling out in less than 24 hours.

Earlier this summer Methyl Ethel were invited by Huw Stephens to record a BBC Radio 1 session at the legendary Maida Vale studios. Listen back to the live renditions of ‘Drink Wine’, ‘Ubu’, ‘No. 28’, ‘Groundswell’ and ‘L’Heure des Sorcie`res’ via the BBC iPlayer. In addtion, their latest single ‘Drink Wine’ receiving heavy A-list rotation on BBC 6Music and saw them perform a session with Lauren Laverne. Watch here via BBC iPlayer.

Everything Is Forgotten is a vivid, compelling and mysterious creature; all sinewy, curvaceous pop nuggets and enigmatic currents. Written and recorded by Perth-based Webb, it was brought to life by acclaimed British producer James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, Foals). The pair’s collaboration has infused Methyl Ethel’s shoegaze dream-pop palate with electronic and polyrhythmic flourishes, allowing Webb’s keening, gender- fluid vocals and searing poetry to take centre stage.

If you’re looking for sing-a-long summer floor filling anthems, more swagger than Jay Z and infectious pop rock alchemy then DON BROCO is your new favorite band!!

DON BROCO are quite clearly aiming for the stars leaving a trail of sold out venues in the UK in their wake. In November this year they will headline a 10,000 capacity venue in London but Australian fans will get to witness their bombastic live show for the very first time this December in intimate surroundings.

To say DON BROCO is excited is a massive understatement and lead singer Bobby can’t contain his excitement…”STRAYA! We're coming for you harder than Borry after 5 points of speed on a 40 hour run. As our good mate Johnny Depp informed us, your country is a ‘treasure trove of unique plants, animals and people’ and we can't wait to experience it for ourselves.
