FAT NICK w/ Junor & Carmouflage Rose

FAT NICK w/ Junor & Carmouflage Rose

Friday December 1st - Saturday December 2nd

The Brightside
27 Warner Street
Fortitude Valley, QLD  4006 Map

Friday 1 December – The Brightside, Brisbane

In recent years, hip hop the world over has seen a renaissance, artists from across the globe have been leading the charge in transcending the genre from it’s humble roots in the Bronx, Brooklyn.

An artist leading the charge of high energy, codeine inspired story telling is Chicago based Fat Nick. The 22 year old Peruvian/Greek rapper made a name for himself early on via social media and Soundcloud.

After releasing a slew of singles, Nick dropped his first tape 'Fat Camp' in 2015, followed by his sophomore LP 'When the Lean Runs Out' in 2016, and most recently ‘Brand New’ in 2017 further adding to over 40 million streams on Soundcloud alone and growing the ‘Buffet Boy’s name, the collective begun with childhood friend and rapper Pouya.

Today, Destroy All Lines and Chugg Entertainment announce Fat Nick’s debut Australian/NZ tour. Currently working on his debut album and preparing for his first European tour, Fat Nick will be hitting our east coast for 3 exclusive shows in Brisbane Sydney and Melbourne.

Joining him across all three shows will be Australian up and comer Junor. Following his time recently DJing with national hip hop artist Ivan Ooze for Peking Duk’s ‘Clowntown Tour’, the mastermind behind SYN FM’s AUD’$ show, Juñor will showcase his high energy show including his latest single ‘Top Flight’ which features L.A’s Mann.

If that wasn’t enough, recent Bedlam Records signee and Brisbane based Zimbabwean import, Carmouflage Rose will be opening the festivities nationally. Having just released his new single ‘Late Nights’ – which was just added yesterday to Triple J rotation…the new comer has been earmarked as one of the top acts to watch in 2017.

The tour promises to showcase some of the leading global sounds in hip hop…don’t miss out.

Methyl Ethel - Live in the Carpark

Methyl Ethel - Live in the Carpark

Saturday December 2nd

Methyl Ethel, the brainchild of musical polymath Jake Webb, have announced an Australian tour kicking off this November in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide. Full tour details and ticket links below.

Methyl Ethel have been making waves, selling out every headline show in the country since 2016 and topping the album and singles charts (for ‘Ubu’ and ‘Drink Wine’). The third most played artist on triple j this year (ranking higher than Lorde and Kendrick Lamar), Methyl Ethel’s second album Everything Is Forgotten out via Dot Dash / Remote Control is winning over fans in the northern hemisphere, with their recent London show at Shacklewell Arms selling out in less than 24 hours.

Earlier this summer Methyl Ethel were invited by Huw Stephens to record a BBC Radio 1 session at the legendary Maida Vale studios. Listen back to the live renditions of ‘Drink Wine’, ‘Ubu’, ‘No. 28’, ‘Groundswell’ and ‘L’Heure des Sorcie`res’ via the BBC iPlayer. In addtion, their latest single ‘Drink Wine’ receiving heavy A-list rotation on BBC 6Music and saw them perform a session with Lauren Laverne. Watch here via BBC iPlayer.

Everything Is Forgotten is a vivid, compelling and mysterious creature; all sinewy, curvaceous pop nuggets and enigmatic currents. Written and recorded by Perth-based Webb, it was brought to life by acclaimed British producer James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, Foals). The pair’s collaboration has infused Methyl Ethel’s shoegaze dream-pop palate with electronic and polyrhythmic flourishes, allowing Webb’s keening, gender- fluid vocals and searing poetry to take centre stage.

"Brisbane locals WAAX completely owned the stage, with singer Marie DeVita staking the stage like a seasoned pro. WAAX were tight and powerful, and completely owned BIGSOUND day one.”
– Rolling Stone Australia

There’s no rest for the wicked. No sleep for the wild and no time for the weak. Brisbane's WAAX are giving the middle finger to complacency and capping off an incredibly formative year with the We're Totally Fucked Tour - a final run of headline live assaults from the five-piece for 2017.

Still celebrating the runaway success of their Wild & Weak EP and following their packed, standout performance at BIGSOUND, the announcement of these final dates come just as the band is about to kick off a huge run of sold out theatre dates with DUNE RATS, Waaves and Hockey Dad tomorrow.

The We’re Totally Fucked Tour is a celebration of hard work, an acknowledgement that the party fear is real, a kick in the face to the brink of exhaustion and it’s sure to be a load of fun. Aiming to quench the thirst of WAAX fans who missed out on tickets to their at-capacity Wild & Weak EP Tour and the upcoming run of Dune Rats shows, these shows offer the final chance to see the band for the year.

Continuing its endless home run, WAAX’s independently released Wild & Weak EP is enjoying success around the world with track ‘Same Same’ reaching #9 on the FMBQ singles chart and #6 on the KKBB singles chart. ‘Wild & Weak’ is also making ripples with a spin on UK taste-maker station Radio X across the weekend. The band have also sold out of their limited edition yellow Wild & Weak EP vinyl and today launch online pre-orders for a new batch of limited-run clear vinyl. With 1.5 million streams of their tracks online to date with almost half a million of those falling in the last four months, WAAX are set for a bumper summer with a few more surprises to announce ahead of a national support for Fall Out Boy in early 2018.

Art comes from within. When you raise the curtain, peel back the skin, and face the darkness, the truth becomes unearthed. Destroy All Lines & Chugg Entertainment are touring innovative metal juggernaut The Acacia Strain throughout Australia with Kublai Khan this December.

Fresh from releasing their 2017 album "Gravebloom", The Acacia Strain are headlining this epic tour package. Since emerging in 2001, The Acacia Strain have consistently steamrolled boundaries in heavy music, fusing ironclad grooves, moments of doom-inspired pain, and a dynamic vocal exorcism together. Along the way, they gathered a fervent fan base through relentless touring and prolific output. They've shared the stage with everyone from Architects, Hatebreed, and Crowbar to Oceano and We Came As Romans as well as appearing on Warped Tour and Summer Slaughter.

In main support position is Kublai Khan, who are about to release their brand new album NOMAD via Rise Records on September 29. Energetic, aggressive, and passionate, the four piece metalcore band based in North Texas say whats in their hearts to express how they feel, who they are, what they stand for, and won't stand for, as well as the problems of their generation. Kublai Khan are fighting to make an impact in a music landscape bogged down with meaningless lyrics and recycled mindless music.

If you’re looking for sing-a-long summer floor filling anthems, more swagger than Jay Z and infectious pop rock alchemy then DON BROCO is your new favorite band!!

DON BROCO are quite clearly aiming for the stars leaving a trail of sold out venues in the UK in their wake. In November this year they will headline a 10,000 capacity venue in London but Australian fans will get to witness their bombastic live show for the very first time this December in intimate surroundings.

To say DON BROCO is excited is a massive understatement and lead singer Bobby can’t contain his excitement…”STRAYA! We're coming for you harder than Borry after 5 points of speed on a 40 hour run. As our good mate Johnny Depp informed us, your country is a ‘treasure trove of unique plants, animals and people’ and we can't wait to experience it for ourselves. Brisbane, Melbourne & Sydney we'll see you in December! “

Indie rockers Nothing But Thieves have announced details of headline shows kicking off in Brisbane at The Brightside on Wednesday 13th December, followed by Corner Hotel in Melbourne on Thursday 14th December and Factory Theatre, Sydney on Friday 15th December.

The tour will be in support of the band’s new record, Broken Machine, out now via RCA and Sony Music Entertainment Australia. Broken Machine debuted at #2 on the UK charts Top 10 in NL and Top 20 AUS.

To say Nothing But Thieves have been on an epic journey the past 18 months is an understatement. Their debut self-titled album has sold over 250,000 units and streamed over 174 million tracks globally to date.

These five lads from Southend (London) have gone from playing to a handful of friends in Essex to sold out shows, Muse tours, festival headlines in Europe and in the USA and even South Korea (where they played to over 20,000 people) all of which have gained them a rabid fanbase that follow their every move.

The band spent a big chunk of 2016 in America playing shows and performing on everything from Conan O’Brien, James Corden, to Jimmy Kimmel. Their debut album became the bestselling debut from a UK rock band in the US that year.

Nothing But Thieves are poised yet again on the cusp of another hugely successful album and ready to establish themselves as one of the most important young bands to emerge from the UK.

The term ‘Bursting on to the Scene’ is a term thrown around way too liberally these days. That is unless you’re talking about Indie rock sensation; THE HUNNA.
Within the space of 12 months, they have gone from playing to 150 people, to touring with The 1975 and their current UK tour is selling out 5,000 capacity shows.
Having also been likened to Catfish and the Bottlemen, THE HUNNA cause a stir wherever they go and now Australia gets to witness the phenomenon for the first time this January. Their debut album is wildly energetic and fun-loving with captivating lyrics and massive, explosive choruses.
Joining THE HUNNA will be label mates COASTS who will also be touring Australia for the very first time. In a world where chaos and hate seem to reign supreme and dominate news cycles; COASTS have the ability to make you feel as if their music is a warm cocoon to hide out in. Their upbeat indie rock has drawn comparisons from Two Door Cinema Club to Phoenix. With recent performances at Coachella, Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds and Lollapalooza, COASTS are primed to inject some fun into Summer 2018!
Tickets go on sale Thursday 9 November, 9am local

Port Royal + The Cherry Dolls Co-headline Party at The Brightside With special guests!

Tickets on sale Monday 20th Nov.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Port Royal -
Brisbane’s Port Royal, with their modern spin, antics and persona’s formed in mid-2015. After not long, it was May 2016 when they released their debut EP ‘The Express’.

Following their debut EP, this rock quartet landed their first real support slot with Sydney-based Castlecomer. They later had a month long residency at Greaser Bar and then won the 2016 Amped Up competition held at The Triffid.

By 2017 Port Royal had come a very long way as a band and a part of that journey was having to find the "missing [fourth] piece" of a like-minded lead guitarist.

It was March 2017 when they reached new heights and gained some real credibility with their single ‘Get Heavy’ that was tied to their unique film clip starring a puppet version of the front-man rocking out.

Most recently the band has supported the nationally touring rock groups The Delta Riggs (August) and The Cherry Dolls (September).

To continue to build on this momentum, Port Royal jumped back into the studio to knock another one out of the park with the single ‘Pinch-Hit’ (released September 1) and with it, the band embarked on their first East-coast tour in September/October 2017.

Cherry Dolls -
After a massive 2017 of relentless touring, selling out venues all around Aus, Supporting Heavyweights Spiderbait, The Delta & British India to name a few, releasing their Debut Record, it's been a massive year for The Dolls & they are expecting 2018 to be even bigger and better starting off with a nice run of shows up the East Coast to showcase new material!

The boys encourage you to grab a ticket and get down to The Tote as this are going to be one hell of a party!

Lots of Love x

The Cherry Dolls Tour -

January 12th - The Tote Hotel
January 13th - Brighton Up Bar
